Day 137

May 17, 2011

the one where decided to have a Cathedral Day! We toured Notre Dame and climbed all the way to the top of the Bell Tower (and Dylan bought “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” to commemorate the occasion), got to see the beautiful Sainte-Chapelle (I’m still speechless), had Tea Time at Ladurée (complete with macaroons!), and then got to see Sainte-Germain-des-Prés and Sainte-Sulpice. Each church seemed to have its own character, but all of them were equally breathtaking. I just love being Catholic.

After seeing so many churches, we went to relax in the Luxembourg Gardens and ended up having a spontaneous photoshoot! When Gigi got a hold of my camera, I believe it was love at first sight. She took about 100 pictures of me, Dylan, and Carla, and was even politely critiqued by a Parisian photographer who helped to pose us in different ways! It was TOO funny!

Then we went to another legit French café where some friendly Canadians and Paris natives helped us order, and where Dylan regained the masculinity he thought he lost during Tea Time by ordering steak, fries, and beer. (It sounds weird, I know! But keep in mind the drinking age in France is 18!) We got back to the hotel just in time to meet some Australians and watch the Eiffel Tower blink like crazy at midnight. So ridiculously thankful for today!
