Day 136

May 16, 2011

the one where we saw the Mona Lisa and TONS of other artwork at the Louvre (aka the world’s largest art museum), had crěpes for lunch, went to Angelina and shared the most famous hot chocolate in all of France (thanks again, Natalia!), strolled through the Tuileries Garden, passed by the Obelisque (aka the 3300-year-old monument from Egypt), and did some shopping while walking down Champs-Élysées. This was the day that the three of us were pretty chilly, so we bought some pretty fresh jackets, and then pretended to be rich by looking at Louis Vuitton handbags and Lamborghinis.

Our excursion reached a high point when we climbed to the top of the Arc de Triomphe and got to look at the city from above. Then we watched some street dancers bust some moves, grabbed some baguette sandwiches, and had a picnic in a park. Later that night the three of us decided to go to the highest point in Paris—the Sacré Coeur! And as you can imagine, the view of Paris was incredible! And the Sacré Coeur was beautiful too! Unfortunately cameras aren’t allowed inside, but I took plenty of mental pictures as we celebrated the 10pm Mass in French!
